massive speed on surfboard--- i did it w/speedguide and tweakfreak and some accidents

with many hours of nervous reg hacks i came up with a killer...
last night off peak i saw for my first time a speed of 6080 kbps with a download of almost 650 (i didn't write down the download speed out of excitement and cant quote that one). my avg. now is about 1286-2060 kbps with over 300 kbps downloads.
i find myself checking my speeds every 15-30 minutes now out of disbelief!!!

man, just our luck. velvetdog makes his first two posts in two different threads at the same time stating approx. the same thing and then he disappears.

BTW - I live in a high cable modem user area and very late at night (or very early in the morning) I can still pretty consistently top 300Kb down too so what's the big deal? Even his average "kbps" isn't that high. Many people have posted much faster speeds then this before. On the other hand, speeds at peak times are a much different story.

speed post for the last couple of days and one just now.some people are faster but im happy with mine and i just use the patches off speedguide.liveing in the sticks is not all bad.

yes its little ole me... i will share what i did soon. i am quite busy and have to copy my notes. again, little credit is on me. i give credit to my mentors at speedguide and tweakfreaks.

i have also found that fiber optic is capable of running 100mbps... do you know what that means??? heehee... we have a wonderful future ahead of us!

i feel i am just fortunate to have compared specs with many different sources and taken what i felt was most spoken. (mostly by whom i have mentioned) so not all is in one place and i cant gaurantee that my system runs the same as yours. although i think it will definately help! i have also just come across a few more notes that plan on implicating in the near future... thank a r.r. tech/junkie for these... if they do what there supposed too.

i wouldn't be when you can so easily get so much more. and especially outside of the city as i live downtown in a city of 1.2 mil. and between 2 colleges! keep the good work and incentives for those under a meg!!

each time velvetdog posts his "awesome" speeds, they keep changing..

last nite he got his best speed "ever" at 650K but now he says at peak times he routinely gets 1 mbps. Personally, i don't think he knows a bit from a byte and will wait to see all the great things he did himself to achieve this.

just go to speedguide and use their advice that should do the same things (for the most part) that i got. i never 'took' credit for what i did i was promoting how well speedguides tweaks and some others have helped me incredibly.
as i said i will share what i did but only by following someone elses lead.
get off your bastard ass and open your eyes. never did i say i was a genius or byte head. i like speed and thats what i go for. whatever you wanna know or wanna get you can get it by yourself it wasn't my own ingenious mind. if its cheap shots you wanna throw go for it but know who (not) you are throwing them at.

oh yeah! i just wanted to add... maybe i dont my lingo like some but am learning and am trying to help others who dont have, but can get what i do (generally in matters of speed in this case)

hey if you would, why dont you explain it to me. i can always use a lesson for some help. all i know about the numbers im printing is what these bandwidth tests are giving me. in comparison to my old numbers what im saying makes sense. if you can correct my terminology, help me out instead of trying to bash someone. were all here for some more speed on our connections.

heres my secret on how i got my sb3100 to download at 5.3megabits a sec. i opened the modem and swapped the green wire with the red. then i soldered the white and yellow together, then i put a copper bus bar between the two. finally i took out the toshiba proccesor chip and replaced with a PIII 800mhz, then closed the case and plugged the modem back in.........or maybe it was just the regestry tweaks and the awsome cable service i have here on the Island.

here is what i did. most of it is what i got off of speedguide and it worked wonders. im on win98 w/surfboard modem and road runner in the middle of the city. i also have some screen dumps of speed results. mostly they are my highs but i have some at avg's during peaks. ill send them if you want them.

Change your DefaultRcvWindow to “372300” if that doesn’t help try 186880, 93440 those should work…


DefaultTTL= ”64”
PMTUDiscovery = ”1”
PMTUBlackHoleDetect=”0”
Tcp1323Opts=”3”
SackOpts=”1”

And…
MaxDupAcks = “3”

If any these folders cant be found you may not have them. I had to make some of them. Road Runner disengages them…I think?

Add…
“MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server”=dword:00000010
&
“MaxConnectionsPerServer”=dword:00000008

And possibly 2 more…

Since the rules of the board prohibit me from advertising I can tell you that they are 59.99 at a store in a box with blue and white coloring that the people in the store probably keep in the back room so people that don't understand what they are for don't buy them just to return them out of ignorance.

I dont know about velvet dog but his findings were no surprise to me.. I have the same modem and just used the speed guide tweaks and download accelerator and get the speeds he just found out about all the time..No big secret...I dont know why it took so long for him to share that unoriginal knowledge.. I would of told people but I assumed that everyone was all ready on to that modem magic... (-=

Ok, I am testing a Radio Shack new product on the line that goes to my SB3100 cable modem. I'm way off the chart with the simple tweak for WIN 98 here on this board.

505.1 k bytes per second is what I get all morning. Never got that high before.
15.1171 69.99 at Radio Shack. "Digital Cable Line Amplifier" which is bi directional. I tried it on the TV side and it works, but introduces some cross hatch, as they all do. All it did on my cable modem side of the splitter they installed was speed me up. Do I think it is worth 70.00?? Not really. 30.00 yeah.
