I just found out DSL is available at my house now. I have Cox cable but can't talk to an account rep until Monday. Anyone know if they have service contracts or are month to month?

Usually cable is no contract. Its DSL a lot of times that has yearly contracts.

Is it the FIOS??

I dunno about Cox policy, but if you signed up on a special offer there could be a condition to that offer that you keep the service for a specifc time or pay some damn penalty...happened to me w/ dsl once...

Cox hasn't been in my area for many years...they were the first cable co. when cable first came out here.

did ya try searching (http://www.cox.com/search/?q=early+termination+fees&restrict=&btnG=submit&sort=date%3AD%3AL%3Ad1&output=xml_no_dtd&site=&ie=UTF-8&lr=&client=Cox_com&oe=&proxystylesheet=Cox_com) cox's site?

Curious as to why the jump "down" to DSL? At least here in doodah, DSL's performance cant touch cable.

There is no contracts or commitment from Cox, other than if you signed up to purchase the modem and spread it out on payments, ie. 3-4 months and you haven't completed the full payment. But as far as the service, you can cancel and disconnect at will.

Im not only a client, but the local lead tech for Cox. :)

Thanks for the replies:)

Ghettoside, I searched Cox's website for quite a while and think I found what I was looking for but am not sure.

Bronco, for the price this is a nothing but a huge step up. Cable has 5 MB packages here but they're quite expensive. I'm on a value package for ~ $20 or $25 per month at 256K down. To go up to 2 MB the price doubles.

SBC has a new customer promo going right now. 3 MB down for $17.99 with a 1 year contract.

Is there a 30 day satisfaction guarantee at least?

Check and see how far you are from the CO as that will affect your speed.

AOL is doing Road Runner Lite for 24.95 a month (Same price as their Dial Up) which is 768k down/100 up as well as other deals with other Cable companies.
Just in case you have probs with the DSL.

Had cox in Virginia for a short time. Great service and no disconnect fee.
