I'd like to introduce our new Broadband Hardware Database (http://www.speedguide.net/broadband.php).

It contains a list of broadband related hardware, catalogued by type, and a number of key features, such as number and type of WAN/LAN ports, default admin interface IP/username/password, VPN/WiFi/Firewall capabilities, links to product manuals/datasheets, and much more (over 100 features overall). Example (http://www.speedguide.net/broadband-view.php?hw=59)

The database has strong filtering (by category (http://www.speedguide.net/broadband-list.php?cat=10), manufacturer (http://www.speedguide.net/broadband-list.php?brand=3), etc.), sorting (by date (http://www.speedguide.net/broadband-list.php?sort=date), user rating (http://www.speedguide.net/broadband-list.php?sort=rating), popularity (http://www.speedguide.net/broadband-list.php?sort=popular), etc.) and search capabilities (http://www.speedguide.net/broadband-search.php?adv=1), and we've incorporated the ability for user reviews/comments, as well as rating of the hardware. We are in the process of adding a number of popular routers and broadband modems to the list. If you have a particular brand/model you'd like to see just drop us a note. We might be adding more features to the database in the future, such as the ability to compare different pieces of hardware, possibly even ability for users to add new hardware to the list as well.

Currently, you can help us improve the database by adding comments/reviews about hardware in the database you have experience with, and by rating hardware you've used.

Please post any comments, feedback, issues with the interface here.

Thanks,

Philip

Lefty, thanks, it took a while to develop, but it's going to be downhill from here I hope (some pun intended).

Brent, thanks fot posting and the suggesiton, I'll look into it as time allows.

TinyTim... Trying to make it intuitive and easy to maintain, it's a big project in the background (up to 220 possible features per device now) :) It's something that has been lurking in the back of my mind for years now, the concept was after a cell phone database that a friend of mine runs over at Phonearena.com (http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/phones.php)

Yard, just added the 3 RCA modems I found, if you had some other model in mind, email me some info and I'd be happy to add it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys :)

Thanks Kyle, should prove handy for feature comparison and quick reference (default IP / pass, etc.) too...

Up to 150 devices catalogued (over 5500 total features) in the database, still adding new routers. Let me know if your modem/router is not listed.

You should add the Actiontec GT701 Wireless Gateway (http://sub.st/articles/hacking-the-actiontec-gt701-wg-wireless-gateway.html) as it's Qwest's current modem of choice right now 8)

(CM450 and *new* CM550 RoHS) also one of the few DOCSIS 2.0 compliant ones... amazing throughput under correct conditions (we make CMTS's for several BIG companies...)

Cheers, TheTek
