Satellite(Direcway) with Router -how to play games over MSN Messenger

Hello: I am new to using a Direcway Satellite connection (DSL or Cable are not available. My wife has played upwords with her sisters for years using MSN Messenger over a dial up connection. When we have tried it using Direcway the connection fails to materialize. We connect to direcway through a Linksys Router BEFSR 41set up for obtaining and IP automatically(DHCP) and only the firewall which NAT provides. Our operating system is Windows XP.

I would appreciate any information you can give me on whether it is possible to play games through MSN Messenger. If not is there any other way given the above information<
