View Full Version : Why so sensitive?
I read the post with godamn in the subject line by kennykamiya, what's up with you guys? Start complaining about a word like that??? Jeez, why are you so sensitive? Are you really getting offended by something like that? If so, you must have been hidden from the world a long time. There are words that are alot more "bad" out there, trust me!
I think cursing is way of expresing yourself as any other words, lighten up alittle!

This is going to be some thread, I see it now.
It wasen't the curse or that word.
It's that he has no respect for anything. Why would anyone answer his question when he asks it like a 3 year old? It wasen't even the caps. Some people don't know that. Maybe he could have used one word properly in his entire question?
I think brent about said it right in his reply in the thread.
Let the fun begin.

It was more than just his cursing, it was his manner/approach. Cursing may not offend u (it doesn't really offend me), but it may offend some1 else (there r many walks of life on this forum).

i understand what you guys mean by his manner and approach,i replied to this before reading the post and understand now.the one word i believe hardly offended anybody and especially did not offend me but the approach and the way he spelled everything i have to say was sloppy.

Not to mention the guy was an idiot.
I agree that the approach wasn't very nice and it looked very sloppy. But part of the reason why I posted this post is that I once cursed on this board because I wanted to emphasize how fed up I was about a certain thing. Well, my post was filled with ****** after it had been edited by an administrator. I found that to be a bit excessive. The words where not F*** it was more like sh***. Maybe it is a cultural difference, I don’t know. I’m Swedish my self.

Zulan,
It might also be the board software doing it automatically.

No,no,no, it said that a moderator had edited the message... But of course I could be wrong, maybe it says that even though it's automatic. I later replied to some of the answers I got and I then again used some sh***, because I didn't notice the censorship at first. Then the moderator actually posted saying something like, enough with the cursing already?
I replied with an "I'm sorry!"
I think maybe it has something about being listed as a education site and that kinda falls under a family safe site rating

A bad word or two may not bother most people and it really dosn't bother me but to have someone come here for help and have to weed through C@#$ I is just unprofessional not to mention there are better way's to get a point accross.
But then again what do I know.
I guess I just added to this one Lex was write this will be a strange one

Zulan,
Please do not push your moral view on what language is and isn't appropriate. It's a no win battle. Here's why:
This BBS is private. It is run on private software on private servers located on private property. There is NO right to free speech on private property...and there never has been.
The group of people that visits this BBS is varied, but in order to maintain the BBS the operators have the privilege (since it is THEIRS and not YOURS) to mandate that civil discourse be the order of the day.
You are always free to start up your own BBS at any time. You are always free to visit the newsgroups. You are always free to find other resources of information. You are NOT free, however, to tell the OWNERS of this BBS how they should run it.
Regardless of where you're from.
We don't allow child porn here either.
I don't think you're a bad person because you have a different view of what language is acceptable. In other places it might be appropriate. However you must remember that you are (as we ALL are) a GUEST here.
It's their house, so to speak. All I'm asking is that you respect that as you would expect someone to respect YOUR house rules.
Regards,
-Bouncer-

I'm not offended by foul langauge BUT, I built a computer for my 12 year old sister-inlaw and I'm trying to teach her how to use the net for a resource of info. This is one of the sites I bookmarked for her. I know she probably hears worse language in school, but I don't want to guide her to a site that has it. I don't want her to think it's ok to use langauge like that if and when she post a question. I myself am guilty of using some long strings of curse words when I get very angry. I wouldn't come here and subject others to my rants and raves in haste though. Far from perfection, I have made a few derogatory statements to some people who have come here and been rude to others.

-Bouncer: Please do not push your moral view on what language is and isn't appropriate. It's a no win battle. Here's why:
-Zulan: I’m not trying to push my morals; I think that you are though!
-Bouncer: This BBS is private. It is run on private software on private servers located on private property. There is NO right to free speech on private property...and there never has been.
-Zulan: I wasn’t aware of the law saying that there is no right to free speech on private property, which makes me think why they say that America is the land of the free, what so free about it. I’ve never been anywhere where they have so many rules. And I am well traveled.
-Bouncer: The group of people that visits this BBS is varied, but in order to maintain the BBS the operators have the privilege (since it is THEIRS and not YOURS) to mandate that civil discourse be the order of the day.
That’s why I feel it is important to let them know what I think about it.
You are always free to start up your own BBS at any time. You are always free to visit the newsgroups. You are always free to find other resources of information. You are NOT free, however, to tell the OWNERS of this BBS how they should run it.
-Zulan I think you misunderstood me there; I don’t care how you run this BBS. And if I’m not free to tell them anything, then that makes this feel so much better!
-Bouncer: Regardless of where you're from.
We don't allow child porn here either.
-Zulan: What does that have to do with anything? Just the fact that you compare these 2 things makes me realize how weird this really is! I can now see why you think this is a no win battle.
-Bouncer:I don't think you're a bad person because you have a different view of what language is acceptable. In other places it might be appropriate. However you must remember that you are (as we ALL are) a GUEST here.
-Zulan: Yes, now I REALLY feel like a guest, thanks for making me feel welcome.
-Bouncer: It's their house, so to speak. All I'm asking is that you respect that as you would expect someone to respect YOUR house rules.
-Zulan I will NOT respect it, but I will follow it.
Thanks for taking your time to listen to what I had to say.
-Christer "Zulan" Zulawinski
You obviously have a lot of time and energy on your hands. Stop trying your little "bulliten board rights movement" and go save the whales or do something more important.
This topic really has no meaning- follow the rules or leave. Perhaps even start your own site and have fun posting all the messages you want!
Closed until bouncer gets back.

I just want to add my two cents american http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
First of all i want to say is the main reason i closed that thread is because it was going nowhere. There was NO point to it.
Now Zulan, I agree that at certain times it's neccessery to use curse words to emphasize emotions. Especially on this online bbs stuff, it's hard to understund a persons true emotions from just text, therefore we use colorful adjetives to describe them.
But you also have to realize this website caters to a WIDE group of people. We are known as a Family Site and have to keep it all at least PG-13 rated. I mean we are talkin kids that are 12 years old read this site, and i'm sure some younger still! Weather we like it or not we influence those people that read our site. All we want to do is set a good example. Our example is give respect, and thou shalt recieve respect from others. Be a Jerk, and people will treat you the same. Cursing is just bad form period, there are other ways to express yourself anyways.
Yes this is a private forum. We Let you come to it and view the website and post on the forums. We can shut anybody we want out for any reason at all because this is a private site that we are giving public access to. We set the rules, you break em and we have the right to kick you off. We are however VERY leneant and try to make sure people understand what actions we take.
It's just a messed up world out there, I know, just try and make the best of it and go on with life http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/wink.gif
