Best setting for a default Win98SE machine?

Hello all, I used to have a cable modem, and just got adsl. I did a lot of patches/hacks for my cable to get it up to speed. I just installed the "default" windows reg edit to set it back to default to start from scratch.

My question is, what is the best edit, or patch? There are so many, it can get confusing....

Well, for starters use the patch (http://www.speedguide.net/Cable_modems/cable_patches.shtml) that corresponds w/ur OS.
