Need External Storage

I need advice on an external hard drive.
I just downloaded DVD Clone2. It has the option not to delete the temp. file after burning. Very nice. I have a laptopXP with a DVD burner and a desktop 98se. I would like to store the video files and music files for later burning from both computers. Is this a possiblity?
Any suggestions?

I use a 250 GB Western Digital USB 2.0 drive for all backup. Really fast.
