Is there a way to "lock" one wireless connection on my laptop? I live in a condo building and my computer picks up 7 different available networks. The only one I want to use is mine, I have it set to the preferred network with a key but what can I do to tell my computer not to switch over to there, lower speed connection? Every 5 minutes the computer switches over to another network connection or drops.

When you set up a wireless client, you should be able to designate whether you want it to 'Always' connect to a specific SSID.
Having said that, have you kept your SSID at the default or created a new one? If you use 'Linksys' as your SSID, for example, you are going to find there are a number of others out there and available.
Dunno your exact setup, but that's worth a try.
WEP encryption in your scenario is very adviseable. If you can see 'them,' then 'They' can see you!
Cheers...
