Ok I have the 9800 Pro installed , with Omega 5.2.14 drivers ...

I ran:
3dmark2k1 and got 17772
3dmark2k3 and got 5607

I'm fairly happy with both scores ... I had everything set to default or 1024 X 768 with no AA or AF

Now to my Questions ...

Have any of you experienced any performance gains using any particular settings ( not default )

AGP Appeture ? (64/128)
Primary VGA Bios ?? ( PCI/AGP)

I just bumped it to 128 Apature and .....AGP Primary VGA Bios

Getting ready to rerun 3dmark03 Just wondering if some of you had any advice ....

AGP arpeture=64
Win2k SP2
Cat 3.2 + DX8.1for 2001se
Cat 3.9 for 2003

Or use CAT 3.9 DX9.0b for both

This is Barton 2500+

Changing the aperture size will have little, if any, effect at all. If you use an AGP card, always have the BIOS set to boot from it first.

Ok that's how I have it set right now 64/AGP

So ... What is your FSB on that system above ... Is it just me or are those scores extreme ??? Would reverting back to the Cat 3.9's have that much of an effect or is it more related to my other hardware ?

So didn't I read somewhere a while back about Smartgart and Fastwrite ????

Should the Fastwrite be enabled ??

02-12-04, 08:21 PM
Yes fastwrite should be enabled...

Omega's are the best drivers.... I get higher FPS, and higher benchmarks with them. Also, other people tell me they have higher IQ but I don't notice any difference.

The 4.2 omegas are probably coming out tomorrow btw.

Here is a side by side comparison of the

Catalysts, vs the DNA drivers, vs the Omega Drivers.

Sweeeeeeeeet ... Thanks man ....

So when installing New omega drivers .. Is it still necassary to uninstall the OLD omega Drivers ???

02-12-04, 08:36 PM
I believe so....

02-12-04, 08:39 PM
Ok ... No biggie .... I am planning a fresh install this weekend or next .... :)

Appreciate the info ...

You can just use the omega's built in driver cleaner, and then reinstal the new ones.

Unless you have an itchin' for formattin :D

YEah Within the drivers .... I thought I had read something about some people having problems with it a while back. If I recall they were Asus MB Users .... But perhaps not ..... Or maybe they had just mentioned some performance increases ..... Maybe not ....

Can you two guys please explain to me the advantage or a little info on wy you believe they should be disabled ??

Fast writes seem to cause more problems than the very slight increase is worth. Besides you can get t better OC with them off. Omega did a tweak in his latest drivers where it's disabled regardless of what you set smart gart to. From what he said you would have delete a reg key to really turn it off.
Always clean install your drivers. Omega's have a special version of driver cleaner coded for them specificly. Just follow the readme for either version of DC your using and you can't go wrong. It'll prevent conflicts for you.:D

I noticed in the Omega 2.5.22 Smart Gart APPEARS to be off in the Advanced tab of the Settings .. But then when you open the ADVANcED SMART GART option in the Omega Folder It shows them on .....

So which is the accurate representation ?
