i think it may be the dust the heat sink is very dusty looking .

You also might try cleaning off your heatsink with some isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) then reapplying thermal grease to it (preferrably Arctic Silver), and then reseating the heatsink.

ok well just cleaning the outside of the heatsink seemed to be better. It went from 64 to 53 after running flightsimulator 2004 for a while. I just cant seem to figure out how to get this heatsink off. The boxed version of the p4 heat sink is way differnt then a amd will u just pushed down on the latch. How do u get this off?

The stock Intel P4 HSF's are wonderfully easy to install/remove.

Those 2 green swingarm levers on each side, swing each back, then you'll see how the entire assembly lifts up about a 1/2 inch until the four black shroud snaps on each corner prevent you from removing further...you can eyeball those to see how to fully release.

ok cool thanks thats what i thought but not sure on how to get it off :) ya i guess it was as simple as a little dust that was making it peak so high

but are those ok right now again iam at like 50 to 52 sometimes at 48c when running fs 2004 for a while instead of the 64 to 68 i dont care about ice cold temps as long as they are safe and normal iam fine with it
