Hey all, I'm a big novice at this networking stuff, so I'll do my best to explain the situation.

My roommate is subscribed to Comcast Broadband, and his comp is wired in to a Linksys Wireless Router. (Model BEFW11S4)

Now my comp connected to the router, via a D-Link PCI Wireless Adapter. (Model DWL 520)

We both have a stable, working internet connection, and my signal strength and integrity is great, so I think everyting is connected as well as we can hope.

Now here is the problem: My internet connection speed is awful. I can DL files at about 30-50 KB/sec. However, he can consistently DL the same file as over 200 KB/sec.

The thing is, only in the last week did my speed suddenly drop. I hadn't made any changes to anything, and BAM! Slow as a slug.

I have tried every TCP/IP tweaking utility I can find, and have scoured many a forum and product website, but to no avail. Out of desperation, I even re-installed Windows XP, but that didn't help either.

If any of you folks can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. If you need any more info, let me know. Thanks!:)

BTW, I exchanged my PCI Wireless card for an identical one, just to make sure it wasn't defective. Still no luck.:(

Hi BPond - I'm a new member too -

I've got a very similar problem - 2.3 mbps using an ethernet cable but only 1.15 mbps on same computer using WiFi connection.

I asked BT, my ISP (British Telecom, the major UK ISP) and they advised logging into the router and changing the WiFi Channel No. to 1,6,11, or 12, and for some strange reason changing security from WPA to WEP. I've tried changing the Channel No. but no luck so far. I'll let you know if I find a solution - I'm going to keep on at them until I get a proper answer.

Good luck!
