Looks good to me (but I know jack bout lappys :P)
Except for a couple of things.

1) XP Pro > Home :D
2) Only 256mb of RAM? Your gonna need more than that unless you just have one doc of Word open.

1 year warranty? Mail-in service??? Ouch!!

On a lappy, always go for complete-care- you're covered no matter WHAT you do to it. I just replaced a screen for a client- 15" Dell- screen cost 500 bucks. Complete care would have paid for it (his daughter stepped on it).

ugh!!

That brings me close to 1300 with a 2 year complete care coverage. I DEFINATELY agree it's worth it, hadnt considered it before.

I think I'm going to wait another day or two on this one. tough choices indeed!

it's even tougher because I have a line of credit at dell...

CompleteCare is not available for Dell Home Sales customers in FL or NY.

damn NYS's excessive laws. i wish people could understand taht every action has a reaction and unforeseen consquences.

zooner, it looks good. You might want to check on the memory, though. If there is only two slots on the board, and they put 128s in each, then you are screwed for upgrading. If there is one slot still open, then you could put another 256 in easy. CHECK ON THAT! You want 512mb minimum!

That should be fine for a video card (I hate integrated graphics - even on a laptop)

A 40 gig HD should also be plenty for your laptop.

Your setup is very similar to mine. I'm just running XPpro on a 5100 with a 2.4 gHz processor. Mine has 512 mb. Same video card. It is heavy, but mine serves both as a portable and as a 2nd desktop for home.
