When buying memory it will have a specs that say 16x64, 32x64, 64x64, and 64x72. What exactly do these mean? How do I know which type or size is appropriate for my motherboard? Thanks,

Depth and Width.
##x64 is regular, ##x72 is ECC.

Lot to spell out, here's a quick readme on it. A bit old, but still applies.

As to what your motherboard takes, that's what you find out when you go to the memory makes site, such as Crucial.com, select your computer/motherboard, and you'll see a list of compatible RAM. Also refer to your mobo's manual.

It's not the size. It's how you use it.
