I know LCD's Dont match a CRT, BUT im going off to college, and i cant lugg this 17inch monitor, that is 46 lbs with me. (GO UCONN)
My mom said she would buy me a LCD for a graduation gift, but now i need to find an Awesome Gaming Monitor

I konw the lowest on the market now is around 16ms, i saw a couple ads for a 12ms one coming up, but haven't seen any. My price range is somewhere around 500-900$. I play lots of games, so i would like to get a good LCD

I have a DVI port already, so no converter needed

(Do you really think there will be a decent a=enough LCD? or should i just stay with the CRT?)

Hitatchi.

We have a rash of threads on them over the past couple of months. UOD also just got a 16ms Benq...he loves it. Many users here have the Hitatchi. Solarism only other maker who does a 16ms that I can think of. Absolutely no reason to spend money today on an old 25ms monitor...get a 16, or 12 if you can.

The new NEC 17" might be ok, however NEC has had scaling problems in the past. Displaying images in non-native mode, i.e. a 1280x1024 capable monitor in 800x600 mode, has an odd moire like effect.

I love my Hitachi monitor, especially utilizing the DVI connector. The image is very crisp.

Do ask UOD about his BenQ monitor, he seems quite pleased with it.

With the budget...go with the Hitachi. My choice in the BenQ was just right for me and yes, I'm in love with it but I had to have one and it had to be ALL black which this one is. (FP767). It's 16ms so I'm able to game on it as well. Very nice for the price but with your budget....do get the Hitachi.

Now the only problem I find with LCD right now is most dont suport natively 1600x1200?

If ya gonna spend that much dont you want to be able to run in that resolution especially if you have a high end screaming machine?

Actually, the high end 20" plus monitors do have native 1600x1200 res, but it will cost you and no 16ms.

16ms LCD's have been out for quite some time now, even some 25ms models are good. They're more than excellent for gaming, I wouldn't necessarily hold out for the 12ms models...still a bit away, and will be steep priced at that.
