Dammit, not again!

I cannot believe this!! My new freakin' mobo is dead!! Before anyone jumps to conclutions, the answer is NO! I did'nt max the board cuz I'm only runnin a pos xp1600 palomino cpu.

I was running 11x178 which the pali maxes out @ 180, that's 1.95Ghz. Since it wasn't stable I went down to 11x166=1836Mhz. I leave to go to dinner and to my meeting(NA). I always leave the rig runnin since it's folding, no problem. I get home and my monitor is off, no biggie. I move the mouse, nuttin. I look at the front of the case and see both LED's on which is strange. I shut off, wait a minute then power back on. I get the dam siren noise. I power off, clear cmos and power back on, same dam error. I say ok, I swap cpu's. Install the Duron 850 and power on, same noise. Now I'm wondering wtf is happening?? I take the cmos battery out and leave it like that overnite. Try again this morning, no dam dice! :mad: :mad:

I'm like so f%^&ing mad right not it's not funny. I did'nt do a dam thing to this pos mobo and it's freakin dead. I can't believe this chit!

I have 2 cups of coffee and start to take the nebulous apart for the I-dunno-how-many time. I get the Epox 8KHA+ mobo i have as back and re-install evrything again. I format and install all my fresh new drivers. Evrything is running perfect, no errors, no heat issues, nuttin. I check my psu's rails with my multi-meter. All my rails are right on the mark where they should be. WTF is going on?? I cannot believe what is happening! Evry freakin' NForce2 board I've gotton has been cursed! Not one of them has lasted more than 3 days and I have'nt oc'ed them to the max.

Is this some kind of conspiracy or what? Somebody talk to me before I lose my f^&king mind over here! :mad: :mad:

The 8kha+ is only a 266. I should've stuck with the 8K3A+ which is a 333. I dunno what I'm gonna use.

I say you should get an A7N8X... Doesn't even have to be the DLX Version. Both are excellent boards. I owned the 1st revision and was great.

Yo SLK, I'm gettin an Epox 8K5A2+ for the time being, then I have to send this dead nf7 in for RMA. Since on the reciept essential computers says " No Refunds after 7 days" which is a crock so I'll just have to get a replacement, then either sell it, or trade it.

For now the neucleus will have to do.

I'm still going back to Epox tho ;)

LT, the next pc that you get you need to run for a while at stock speed and see if it screws up. Something is going on, either static, bad power supply, case grounding out some how, you've had too many pc's blow up.

It may be time to step back and rethink everything that you are doing during assembly. It could be something as simple as setting the mobo on top of the antistaic bag. Which shouldn't be done because it can hold a charge on the outside.

Are you using a UPS? You might be getting surges into the PC. My beeps quite often, I'm actually getting too much voltage from the power company, I think.

Rethink everything.

I was about to suggest the UPS as well. I have two of them that serve not only as battery back ups, but as line conditioners as well. It is very likely that you are receiving wild fluctuations in power.

Thanx guyz, I'll recheck everything all over again and see. What bugz me is if the mobo goes out, why did'nt it take another part with it? I mean the memory or the cpu. All i did was swap parts to the 8KHA+ and evrything is working like a charm. I checked my psu rails, ram mem test, evrything is ok. Really too odd.

I just keep wondering with all the lemons I've been getting, anyone want some lemonade? :D
