Hey guys..have a question my temp for the system is 78degrees F (26 C) and my CPU temp is 104 F (40C) and thats while Folding. Is this a good temp?

Other question, with temps like this, can I overclock it. I have the ECS K7S5A board with a 1G Duron. I can play around in the BIOS and get it to 1333Mhz. Just want to make sure my temps are OK first.

Next and last questions :) The settings in the BIOS change like this: I can either have it as 100/100 which is clocked normal for the CPU and DDR Ram or I can change it to 100/133 which would leave CPU normal and up the RAMmhz or I can change it to 133/133 which would bring them both up.... Which do you suggest? The Core voltage never changes during either setting..it's at 1.728V. I can also change the DRAM Timing to either normal, fast, or ultra...I dont even know what that is and the mobo manual doesn't mention it.

Also my DRAM driver slew rating can be changed to normal or fast. Should I change either of these if I overclock?

The manual doesn't mention either of these setting (for good reason?)

Thank for your help!!!!

The first question that comes to mind is cooling. If you just have stock cooling, then you should play it safe and not go into an aggressive overclock situation.

Your temps are fine right now but as soon as you O/C, they are going to rise...how much? I don't know...but they aren't going to lower for sure. If you have a stock heatsink and fan on your CPU then you may want to upgrade that first. This will give you some breathing room....and even with that, I would play it conservatively to insure stability.

How is airflow inside you case being handled?

These are the first questions that come to mind before considering an overclock.

I'm sure the hardware guru's will probe you more but they may be able to bump you up a bit with the stock cooling you have right now...;)

good temps..

now you can ublerly JUMPER OVERCLOCK!!!!!
your board isnt ment for overclocking.. hell it isnt ment for much other than door stopping!!!! But you can overclock a few mhz.. but i wouldnt get anywhere near the 50 degrees mark at load.. expecially with summer around the corner

:rotfl: Thanks. My case is an Antec case with 2 80mm(?) large exhaust fans and I do believe the heatsink and fan are stock...(I guess) when I bought the combo, I paid for OEM heatsink and fan, they were out so they upgraded me to the next step..so I'm not for sure. This is my first AMD rig..I do like it tho! :)

Thanks for your input guys!!!

i have the same board with a 1.3ghz duron, and if ur going to o/c get the cheepo bios it allows more fsb speeds insted of the 100/133 crap.

but seriously i wouldnt bother with this board. :D
but it has stability:D :D :D :D
