Well I changed the hsf of the card... now I think it's burnt or over heated.. I didn't oc it one bit after it first overheated...
that was a long while ago... few days ago I restarted my computer and there's white stripes veritcally across the screen..
I took the vid card out and looked thru it.. replug it back in and there's no problem..
Now it's the same problem today.. so I thought np.. just remove and plug it back in... and still the white stripes still won't go away...
even worse is some of the colors are different.. do u think it's burnt? I'm gonna keep thinking or trying ways to fix it... but I dont know...
damn.. costs me roughly 400 bucks canadian a year ago for this msi gfti4400 card.... TIA

I have an msi 845 ultra mb.. think that'll work better than my ti4400?
its possible you damaged it
hard to tell
when you put the hsf back on are you sure its coming into contact with the core good, and did you apply some type of thermal paste or epoxy

I applied well.. not an arse load by quite enought thermal compoudn.. artic silver on it...
As I said.. I changed the hsf like 4 months ago and the problem just started... but befor ethat 2-3 months.. it over heated... that's why I needed to change the fan... the old one was faulty...
I think maybe the damage was already done to it before I could change the fan...

but if you are going to replace the card why get a card thats the same speed basically
upgrade to a dx9 capable card like 9500 pro or something

I just need to replace the card.. not upgrade it... and considering the price.. 238.. the 9500 pro is 294.. not much diff...
but I'm not familiar with it and the comp already has the det drivers installed so I don't need to hassle with removing and reinstalling new stuff... also the new game I've been playing has issues with ati cards... heh.. them bastards..
so I'm going to stick with gf until my new comp in the few years to come.... do u think that's a good replacement card?
or do u think it's worth the hassle?

Just some words of advice for the future.
If you overclock and like Nvidia (like me:D) Gainward can't do you wrong, they replaced my burned out card no problem.

But if all else fails just blame Brent. Its his fault I was arrogant enough to bump my ti4200 to 320mhz core for benchies :D

Hey Immy,
Brent knows way more than I do, so my only thoughts would be have you tried the card in another box yet? Just to make absolutely positively sure that there isn't some issue or conflict with that card and your box... Also have you tried it hooked up to a different monitor?...
It's worth a try...
JMHO :)
