View Full Version : How do you remove AS3 from your CPU?
I have tried alchohol .. which worked albeit not extremely well, and a friend of mine uses Goof-Off a xylene based cleaner. What i am wondering is whether that would harm the CPU (xylene cleaner)...
Thanks.
Massa
PS Alternative methods are appreciated!

Don't use Goof-Off as it will damage your chip. xylene can be used on the HS only. Use acetone with some swabs than remove the residue with 99% pure IPA (iso propyl alchohol). Thats what we use at work on microprocessors and other sensitive devices.
Use Isoprophyl Alcohol 50%+ and Wipe with a Qtip... You have to work it out. It don't just come right off.

use use denatured alchohol and cotton swabs or paper towels if i cant find a swab.
I bought a can of Defluxer Tech Spray
This is what's on the label:
ENVI-RO-TECH 1676
No cfc's
No 1,1,1-Trichloroethane
Contains HCFCs
1676-12s
Features:
General Defluxer,Non flammable,Non Corrosive,Pure Solvent,Penetrates Rapidly,Blended HCFC
Removes:
Light Oils,Silicones, waxes, greases, and similar contaminants often found in electronics manufacturing.
I paid 11 bux for a 12oz can. Kinda expensive, but it took off evry bit of Die-electric grease i had on the board and socket and it just cleaned off the AS3 from the northbridge. After it dried, it was spotless. Looked like it was never on there to begin with.
I think ratshack has something similar. Comes with a brush.
