View Full Version : Promise Ultra 133 TX2
I just got this Controller (Promise Ultra 133 TX2 Contoller)
How can I use the Controller to Make My Computer Better ??
Duz !!
I recommend doing a clean install, as it eliminates the chances for BSODs and whatnot. Here are steps for both, however. Watch and make sure that all connected hard drives are listed in the card's BIOS check at boot-up once everything is installed.
CLEAN WINDOWS INSTALL
- Download the latest BIOS and driver from Promise's site http://www.promise.com and place it on a floppy disk
- Install card in PCI slot and flash the controller card's BIOS per included instructions with the BIOS file
- Go into your motherboard's BIOS and make sure "Boot Other Device" is enabled and/or "SCSI" is selected in the boot section
- Disable "Hard Disk" in boot option menu, as it will tell the PC to look for a hard drive on the onboard IDE ports
- Set jumpers on hard drives to CS (Cable Select) and connect them to card
- Boot and start Windows installation
- Hit the F6 key when prompted at the bottom of the screen
- When Windows asks for the floppy, insert it and load the appropriate Ultra133 TX2 driver
- Complete Windows installation
- Voila!
EXISTING WINDOWS INSTALLATION
- Download the latest BIOS and driver from Promise's site http://www.promise.com
- Install the driver in Windows
- Power down and install the card (PCI Slot 4 or 5 is likely the best)
- Flash the controller card's BIOS per included instructions with the BIOS file
- Go into your motherboard's BIOS and make sure "Boot Other Device" is enabled and/or "SCSI" is selected in the boot section
- Disable "Hard Disk" in boot option menu, as it will tell the PC to look for a hard drive on the onboard IDE ports
- Set jumpers on hard drives to CS (Cable Select) and connect them to card
- Boot and Windows should load normally
