Anybody have any thoughts on the Antec SX1200 full tower case? My overheating dually needs help and this thing has a ton of fan holes(6). What do you think?

They look good for what your doing with it. I've been being seduced by those vapochill cases like I posted in Extremes thread. They're pricey though.

not sure which the SX1200 is. i see 1040's and 1080's.... but no SX1200's.

I just got the 1040SX and it is awesome.

I haven't really had to do much yet with it since I just put it together last night, but when I get all 5 fans in there (plus the 2 that are in the PSU), it should stay nice-n-cool.

I don't have the 1200, but I love their cases. I have the 1040, and have built a few with that and some smaller ones.

Great setup for fans....the built in fan shroud right on the removable hard drive cage is excellent.

Side panel with car door like latch to remove is sweet.

Tool-less drive mounts.

 to all of the above.

I love it man. It is a great case... my new door with window and fan mount should be here today with fan #4 & 5.

The SX1200 is a freakin monster. It has 14 bays. I believe its one of there older var models that they don't make anymore. I can't even find too much info on it at antec's web site, but if you do a search you will find a few pics of it.

The only reason I'm looking at it is because of its ventelation. I very much like the looks of the way it flows air and I have to get the server cpu temps down.

OK, i remember now. SX1200 and SX1240.

i have a Chieftec DA-01WD, which is the same case but has the door covering the 5.25" drive bays (a-la the SX-1040). inside the case it's identical. if you want, you can swap out the PSU mounting plate for a different one to run redundant PSUs (but you sacrifice the 92mm exhaust fan).

great case. lots of airflow...... but one thing... they weigh a TON. well, not literally a ton, but something like 32-35lbs W/O a PSU.

I wanted that 92mm fan so I bought the case. For those of you that have never seen one, here ya go.

Like an ftp login screen? That doesn't make sense.

yep, nice case, Sid. here's the one i have for the server..... http://www.ipkonfig.com/Reviews/Cases/Directron-Dragon/ . same case with the exception of the door on the front bezel.

if you can't keep the tems down in that enclosure, then the case isn't the problem.

Faust, What size is that big rear fan? I've seen details show 90mm and 92mm. I want to get a fan today but don't know what size it is.

Depending on where you purchase the case, you may or may not get fans with it. A lot of people go "I found it cheaper at ///this place// than where you paid all that money for your case....na naa!"

They order it, thinking they saved 50 dollars over what I got it for where I usually buy my stuff. Then find out it comes with no fans, and either no power supply, or some super el-cheapo power supply.

Then, as usual, I get the last laugh.

Yup, as I always say, you get what you pay for.

So check out the details where you buy it from.

Well I didn't get the smokin deal. I paid $100.00 for it. I did find it much cheaper on the net, but shipping would make the unit the same price or more than I found it locally. It came with rear fans and I already have a bunch of new fans I bought the other day. I do need to know what size that big rear fan is. Antec doesn't have the specs for this case on thier site and all the other sites out there say its 92 or 90mm(ok, but which one).

I paid about 165 for my sx1030b couple of years ago. Came with Antec power supply, and all the fans.

On your case, the link Faust gave above, it mentioned the fan above the power supply is 92x92.

Faust

yeah, on the one i have it's a 92mm. even though mine is a Chieftec and yours is an Antec, i wouldn;t sweat it too much. chances are they are the same PSU mounting plate. and even if they are different, we are only talking a 1mm difference in hole allignment (on opposing holes). the fans are soft plastic, so a little fudging shouldn't be a major problem.
