I'm building a computer for a wife's friend. Here;s what i'm thinking of using.

MSI 6566E 845E Max i845E S478, 2DDR, AGP4X, Audio, USB2.0 ATX Motherboard RETAIL
$72

ATI OEM RADEON 7000 64MB SDR W/TV
$34

Kbyte 256megs pc2100
free after rebate

Intel Celeron (Pentium 4 based) 1.7GHz
$54

WD 80gig special edition
4 months used

cendyne 48x burner
4 months used

Her floppy drive and a mid-sized case.

**************************

I wanted to avoid onboard video because I'm only putting 256megs of ram in. Or, I could put 512megs of ram and buy a board with onboard video.

Anyways, what's a good price for such a system?

I'm thinking the final price for such a system being 450.

I think i'm offering her a steal. what do you think?

The Celerons are very terrible in performance... especially the 1.7s. I would get the Celery 2.0 and overclock it...

Looks like alot of bang for the buck to me.

What is she planning on using the comp for?

believe it or not the Celerons aren't really that bad..

unless you compare them to the P4s or AXPs

I have a Celeron 950 and it runs damned good, considering it's a 'Celeron'
and the Celeron he's planning on putting in there is nearly 2x as fast..
