I need recommendations for an AMD heatsink that the user can put his own fan on, like match the heatsink with a Panaflo H1A.

What about one that doesn't require the holes but works using the standard Socket-A mounting lugs?

They all look the same to me, I don't know, they just support three different fan sizes. Maybe the 900?

SLK is graet, the other option is more affordable, get a volcano 9 and swap the fans.

Ok, so I won the JIUHB stepping 1700+ and I'm going to overclock the crap out of it...that SLK900 with a 92mm fan looks like it'd be a nice air-to-noise solution. Hmm. Gotta check around ...

Cripes! The SLK-900 is $50!

I like that it uses a 92mm fan, though...

the stock isn't too great and the contenders for air cooling isn't the best.

If your going spend $50+ on a heatsink, look into the Aquarius II water cooling system from Thermal Take, might be a bit more, but definately worth the try.

Well I just added 2 volcano 9's to the server. They brought the closed case cpu temp's down 10c. I will be adding another 80mm rear fan tomorrow. God I don't want to cut this Lian Li case up but I don't see any other way of cooling the dually down.

jesus, I can only pray that the noise your machine makes doesn't kill some small animal :D (j/k) volcano 9's are pretty nice :D, very close in pricing to the all copper 7+.

Hmm.

Let's say I want a HSF that I can have going on low when I'm home and then crank it up to high while I'm at work or away?

The Volcano series the best, then?

I have mine set so I can adjust the speed. I think if I get that other fan in the rear I can slow them down a bit.

I'm not to concerned about the noise.

How stiff are they to install?

There not too stout. They do however use all three lugs on each side of the socket, The only reason I thought they were a pain to install was there shear size.

Ahh good to note you don't mind the sound :D (my old Pal 8045 was driving me nuts, had a delta black label 80mm fan).

The 9+ is a nice choice that or the 7+ (all cooper, very nice). A good tip for installing the heatsink, take out the fan first if your having too much trouble getting it in.
