I'm porbably going to get a KVM just for my keyboard and mouse since my monitor can switch on its own.

However...is there lag using a KVM with PS/2 devices? Does the addition of several devices on a KVM create latency problems, in other words?

Haven't used a KVM for any gaming, but I have never noticed any lag- aside from switching from one machine to another of course- on any applications running on servers. And that's using 24 servers off of one KVM. of course, it's not a cheap thing either.

We use a Avocent Autoview 424.

wow, that really was an indirect answer wasn't it? sheesh, i'll work on that :D

I have a nec fe991sb for my main righ and a viewsonic ve115b for my server. I plan on buying a kvm switch for my keyboard and mouse only. Looking at a Belkin from newegg for $36.00.

Keep us informed how it works out brent.

make sure you get a good one though, video bandwidth is a concern, make sure it supports a high resolution etc...

Belkins are good

they rock

And the switching is all done from a keyboard, and it's setup to be used from two seperate stations as well.

walk up to keyboard, double tap ctrl key and bang, a list of all the machines hooked up to it pops up on the screen. arrow keys to scroll through list, enter to switch to chosen machine. With whats called "longview" you can attatch to machines up to 500ft away, so you don't have to rearange a server room to hook up all your boxes.
