I just removed my HS so I could clean it out and I reapplied AS3. Am I supposed to let it cook in before my OC or does'nt it matter?

Its all about the time. Just apply it and use your system normally. You will notice temps gradually go down over a course of 3 days which is the time it takes as3 to settle. :)

Thanks Shag.

Have you lapped the heatsink?

Not yet. It does have visible ridges in it I have to buff down. I plan on doing that next time I clean it.

If you applied it too thickly, you might actually see an increase in temps.

I used a razor to get it nice and even.

All you need is a paper thin layer and as shaggy mentioned, it takes 72 hours for AS3 to burn in and settle. If you put too much , it will act as insulation instead .

It's thin and even. I was wondering if you have to let it settle before you start running an OC.

You don't have to wait...in fact, the best thing to do would to keep your PC running continuously for 48-72 hours for it to achieve the conductivity it needs.

DID YOU KNOW: most ppl that lap heatsink F them up more than they increase cooling? if ur gonna lap the thing find a site showing u how to do it right.
