Granite Bay, DC DDR

but keep in mind granite bay only supports PC2100 DDR266 at DC DDR

you'll have to wait for springdale for DC DDR400 which will 0wn

the gigabyte board is sweet, it's what my friend had.. only beef i had was his bios rev had NO memory latency adjustments..NONE what so ever...i dunno if they've added it.. i messed w/ this about 1 week ago.

I have started some research myself on this thor and I'm leaning towards the gigabyte myself. I owned a gigabyte board many years ago and it was a champ.

I like this one myself...

Gigabyte GA-8PE667 ULTRA2, Intel 845 chipset,Socket 478 for P4 ATX motherboard Retail, Serial ATA ,RAID,USB 2.0

from the reviews I've read, the dc ddr doesnt seem like it's worth the extra small fortune it costs. it's an extra hundred for the board and you need two ram sticks. So, in my case that's almost 300 for a mild improvement in speed.

amro i have no ram tweaks available in my bios for the gigabyte rdram mobo, but it does seem to have them set agresively.

If you're talking about the 8INXP, you have to press CTRL + F1 in the BIOS to enable the advanced chipset features, which includes latency adjustment settings.

I got just under 3400 on the Sandra mem benchmark using the defaults on the 8INXP. Haven't overclocked it yet...

3400 on sandra is PC1066 RAMBUS speeds, wow

see, DC DDR can be as good as rambus, plus you get the better latencies

Too bad I haven't even set everything up or tweaked anything, since one of my drives went out in the array...but out of the box performance like that is awesome. A gig of PC1066 equivalent!

The dumb thing is that extra power supply thing Gigabyte provides that blocks half the rear exhaust fan of your case. Bleh!
