same old argument from ATI haters. The driver developement has improved tremendously over the past 2 years, easily on par with nVidias drivers these days.

the Ti4200 is a great deal these days as is the radeon8500. Theres not a game out yet that I can't play at highest (or almost higest) settings with my 8500.

For the best, take a look at all the threads about nVidia's "just released" FX. It compares is against ATI's 9700p. It's a tossup, one performs better under certain settings, the other better on other settings. Almost a tossup, but ATI still seems to have better looks.

Bang for the buck? I'd lean towards the ATI 9500p as a mid range card. A few months ago I would say the nVidia ti4200 or something, but I just can't see spending money on a card that can barely play games that come out in a few months, and is't DX9 compliant.

I feel like adding in my 2 cents...I (we) have had an ati in the past (mine was the 7500). The thing was a vegetable. So i got out and buy a g2mx. The thing was remarkable. Then i buy a ti4200, the thing is really remarkable. Why would i want to buy an ati when ive had 1 ati card that was crap and 2 nvidia cards that for the mother of all that is good?

We need more that just "their drivers have improved" to drop an nvidia out of our system. Whats an incentive? The fact that the 9700 pars with the fx means nothing to me. whoop de do...there card is powerful...but is it stable?

Its the same reason I don't buy american cars...they are crap!!! When i worked at the lube there would be ford, ford, ford, ford, ford, doge, chevy, ford, chevy, dodge....................toyota.................ford, ford, and so on

Im with you set and lt, and if a do another upgrade it will be the fx and not the "350"...but my ti4200 is WAY more that i need at the moment...bloody good card...and detonators are teh bomb!!!

Best = 9700 pro

BFTB (bang for the buck) = 9500 pro or 128mb version of the 8500 if you wanna save dough.

Any way you look at it, you cant go wrong with ATI. :)

Yes but foriegn cars are $h!t a Hummer can go over any terrain at 79 Mph including pedestrians, motorcycles, and most Jappanese cars. A Dodge Ram has a lot more power than a toyota. They do break down a lot but once you hit something or something hits you in your Nissan you are screwed. That has nothing to do with computers tho.

well the 9000 is on par witeh a gfmx, teh 9500 is the ti4200 competitor. i'd expect a ti4200 to bet teh 9000
