Belkin F5D8230-4

details: Wireless Pre-N Router
hardware type: Wireless Router
date added: 2006-02-15
updated: 2012-09-13
Unit uses smart antenna technology to boost wireless network speed and range beyond that of today's standard 802.11b/g and 802.11a wireless networking technologies. This technology is perfect for larger homes or offices that have a wide area to cover and want to run multimedia and high bandwidth applications reliably.

According to Belkin, the unit provides up to 800% greater coverage, and 600% greater speeds than 802.11g, when used with matching network adapters. The unit comes with 6-month free subscription to a parental control/web content filter service.

Setup is extremely easy, hardwired connection works fine. Wireless connection drops out several times a day, and router must be rebooted. Belkin support tried to resolve issue but could not provide much help. Their only suggestion that helped the router stay connected was to change MTU setting to 1400, which ended up slowing the wireless speed to 10 Mb/s.
