Verizon has recently confirmed that starting on Tuesday, 8 December, it will offer Wi-Fi Calling for its customers. Owners of a Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge will be the first to get it. iPhone and other Android-powered devices will be supported in early 2016.

"Wi-Fi Calling will initially be available on the Samsung Galaxy S 6 and Samsung Galaxy S 6 Edge and will be rolled out as a software update in phases," Verizon has announced. "Additional Android and iOS devices will receive Wi-Fi Calling capabilities via future software updates expected early next year."

Those who want to take advantage of the service must first download and install the latest software update and turn on Advanced Calling from the settings menu.

"Once Advanced Calling is enabled, customers can activate Wi-Fi Calling. When a customer uses Advanced Calling on our 4G LTE network and travels outside of coverage, the call will seamlessly transfer to a known Wi-Fi hotspot when available," according to Verizon.
