Verizon has recently admitted to have capped the traffic to popular movie-streaming website Netflix blaming a temporary video optimization test for the issue.

This speed cap occurred while watching Netflix, or in the more obvious case, while performing a Fast.com speed test. Fast.com is Netflix's official speed testing tool, which obviously runs on Netflix's servers. The capped speeds seemed to be between 5Mbps and 10Mbps.

"We've been doing network testing over the past few days to optimize the performance of video applications on our network," a Verizon Wireless spokesperson said. "The testing should be completed shortly. The customer video experience was not affected."

For its part, Netflix has said it is not throttling any user's speeds and isn't facing any technical problems with Fast.com.
