Tesla owners unable to unlock cars due to server errors2021-11-19 20:00 by DanielaTags: Tesla
Some Tesla owners worldwide are unable to unlock or communicate with their cars using the app due to an outage of the company's servers. Users in the USA, South Korea, Australia, and Europe seem to be affected. The Tesla mobile app is an important part of the Tesla ownership experience. Phones are used as a key to unlock and start Tesla vehicles and Tesla owners can access a lot of controls through the mobile app. While some Tesla models can be unlocked using the phone over Bluetooth, via key card, or via key fobs, other models do not have the "Phone Key" feature and can only be opened via the app. There are also reports of owners who have damaged fobs and couldn't get another working one, thus having to resort to using the app as the only option for unlocking their car. This outage comes after Tesla pushed a new update to its mobile app earlier this week. It added new features for owners, but it also added a lot of features for buyers to handle the buying and delivery experience. It's not clear if the update is linked to this new outage.
