T-Mobile gearing up for cheaper unlimited plans

After months of rumors, T-Mobile may finally be gearing up to launch new unlimited mobile plans at $79.99 with a contract (and a mere $59.99 without) on April 13, TMoNews reports.

So the company clearly isn't slowing down despite the fact that it's being bought by AT&T. As we reported earlier, its continuing its 4G network upgrades, too. The new unlimited plans show that T-Mobile still wants to fight for subscribers, even those coming from AT&T.

The $79.99 plan can only be used with an "Even More" account, which is T-Mobile speak for an account that's under contract. The impossibly low $59.99 plan will be offered to users with "Even More Plus" accounts, which aren’t under contract. (Those users often buy phones at full price, or rely on older phones.)

The plans will offer unlimited calls, data, and texts, although, as is usually the case with T-Mobile, your data speeds will be throttled until your next billing cycle if you go over 2 gigabytes. Technically, it still counts as unlimited, since T-Mobile isn't shutting off your data connection altogether, or making you pay more if you go over 2GB. AT&T, in comparison, offers a firm limit of 2GB of mobile data with no throttling.
