Even though its PS4 is still very much alive and a part of today's console market, Sony has already revealed the first details for its next-generation console, which will most likely be called the PlayStation 5. The company has confirmed its next console will support PS4 backwards compatibility and include SSD storage. You won't have to go out and buy a new VR headset either, because Sony's upcoming console will support the current PSVR model as well. As that information comes directly from Sony, we now know the PS5 won't appear before May 2020. Sony also has a history of launching new games consoles in November, with the PS4$288.00 at Amazon launching on Nov. 15, 2013 and the PS3 launching on Nov. 11, 2006. So it seems likely we'll see the PS5 launch at some point around the middle of November 2020. Meanwhile Sony released its financial results for the fiscal year 2018, revealing that PlayStation 4 sales are now at 96.8 million as of March 31.
