Sega Hacked, 1.3 Million User Accounts Compromised

Video game company Sega was hit by a cyber attack that revealed 1.3 million users' personal information. The database of the Sega Pass website includes customer names, dates of birth, e-mail addresses, credit card numbers and encrypted passwords. However, Sega claims that credit card numbers remained untouched. The company already disabled the Sega Pass website temporarily while it investigates the incident and has reset all passwords.

"We are deeply sorry for causing trouble to our customers. We want to work on strengthening security," said Yoko Nagasawa, a Sega spokeswoman, adding it is unclear when the firm would restart Sega Pass.

The hacker group LulzSec claims that it is not responsible for this attack and offered to help Sega in its investigation.
