Facebook revealed that out of over a billion logins to the site daily around 600,000 are hackers trying to get into users accounts to get at personal information. The Social Network™ disclosed details of hacking activity as it unveiled new measures to protect user's privacy.

Users are advised to ensure they use a more secure password as the amount of accounts being accessed is of great concern. Once an account is accessed, information can be used for identity theft and the hacker has access to change pictures and post comments pretending to be the user of the account. They can also change the password blocking the original user from accessing their own account.

Two new features are on route for the site that include Trusted Friends, which will allow users to nominate up to five friends to be sent login codes if a user is locked out of their account if a hacker manages to change a password.
