HBO and Apple have teamed up to launch the long-anticipated Internet streaming service, "HBO Now". The service will start on April 12, the day for the Game of Thrones newest season premiere. Users will have access to all HBO content including original series and third-party movies.

A traditional TV subscription won't be required for the service. Instead, it will be available exclusively on Apple devices, such as Apple TV set-top box and as an iPhone and iPad app in the App Store. The price is expected to be $14.99 per month. Those that purchase in April, however, receive their first month of the service for free.

"HBO Now is the next phase of innovation at HBO," HBO's CEO Richard Plepler said in a statement. "With this new partnership, a natural evolution for the network, we have access to millions of Apple customers who are used to getting their favorite apps immediately. Now, they can do the same with an HBO subscription."

Apple is an exclusive digital provider of HBO Now for a period of 3 months. HBO is in talks with other potential distributors, including traditional TV providers and digital partners.
