Hacking group Anonymous plotting to 'kill' Facebook

Hackivist group Anonymous reportedly wants to "kill Facebook". A YouTube video labelled as a message from Anonymous claims that "Operation Facebook" would take place on November 5th. The reason for the attack was users' lack of choice in privacy.

"Prepare for a day that will go down in history. November 5th, 2011," the video warned. "Your medium of communication you all so dearly adore will be destroyed."
"Join the cause and kill Facebook for the sake of your own privacy," the speaker urged in the video, which has been viewed more than a million times since being posted three weeks ago.

However, on a Twitter account used by Anonymous, the group dismissed the threat as fake. "To press: medias of the world... Stop lying! #opfacebook is just another fake! We dont "kill" the messenger. That's not our style," it said.
