Google will keep employees working remotely until July 20212020-07-27 17:57 by Daniela
Alphabet Inc.'s Google will let employees work from home until July 2021, once again pushing back the re-opening of its offices as the coronavirus continues to rage in many parts of the U.S. The company had previously said most employees would be working remotely through the end of 2020, with some employees being allowed back into the office sooner. "To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we are extending our global voluntary work from home option through June 30, 2021 for roles that don't need to be in the office," Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in an email to employees, the company confirmed Monday. The move will affect nearly all of the roughly 200,000 full-time and contract employees across Google parent Alphabet Inc., and is sure to pressure other technology giants that have slated staff to return as soon as January. Most tech companies have announced that the bulk of employees can work from home until the end of 2020, or haven't finalized a timeline. Amazon and Apple have asked that workers return in January. Twitter has allowed employees to work from home "forever" if they wish. Read more -here-
