Google wants to speed up mobile web

Google has recently revealed its project AMP HTML with which it aims to speed up the world wide web. AMP stands for Accelerated Mobile Pages and with it content providers should be able to create Web content that downloads to mobile phones and tablets up to 85 times faster.
The technology makes the mobile Web pages of news publishers who use the AMP code load much faster when users search for news on Google. Web pages that open when people click on links inside Twitter and other social media platforms would also open up quicker than they currently do.
AMP works by simplifying the HTML code behind mobile Web content, prioritizing speed over other functions. This includes things like minimizing HTTP requests to fully lay out a document and only downloading images when they're likely to be seen. It will also use Google's own cloud service available for caching of content – storing copies of Web pages for quicker access –that would show readers the latest updates of developing stories instead of older versions.
Such technologies are becoming more and more important since it's now official that for the first time this summer, more Google searches were completed on mobile devices than desktop computers (around 50 billion searches monthly).
