Google to launch dedicated search results for mobile

In order to respond to the growing number of mobile users, Google will start indexing search results for mobile separately to the desktop, and the mobile version will be its primary index. It will be more updated than the desktop index.

The company is already prioritizing mobile-friendly sites in search results, it's done work in voice recognition, launched the AMP project for fast loading mobile web pages, it indexes apps and so on.

The change is expected to happen within months. Additionally, Google is also testing a new recommendation widget in its search results page.

In a statement, Google said:

"[We] are always experimenting with different approaches to keep search index as relevant and useful as possible, but we don’t have any new developments to announce".
