Comcast is adding Sling TV to its X1 platform

Comcast has announced that it plans to add Sling TV to its X1 platform, giving Comcast's X1 customers access over the Internet to more content, including hundreds of new multicultural programs and channels.

The live and on demand Internet TV service Sling TV embraces native speakers of Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, German, Italian, Polish, Arabic and Urdu, offering them monthly packages of homeland channels as an add-on or stand-alone service.

"Our customers are becoming increasingly diverse and this is a fantastic opportunity to quickly deliver even more customized and multicultural programming to them, on an X1 platform that's smart, fast and easy-to-use." Comcast Cable's GM of Multicultural Services Javier Garcia says.

Earlier this month Comcast agreed to add Netflix to X1. X1 is a cloud-based platform that combines live TV, on demand content, a cloud DVR, and streaming video from the web, into one seamless experience. The platform includes a voice remote control as well as Spanish user-interface. X1 is currently available across Comcast’s entire footprint. About 45% of Comcast's 22.4 million video customers are on X1
