Internet hardware maker Cisco is expected to tip up at CES with its own set-top box.

The move will put it in the ring with others like Apple and Google that are entering the TV devices market.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Cisco's television set-top box combines elements of web video services with live, on-demand and recorded TV.

The WSJ claims that Cisco will sell the hybrid TV boxes to cable operators like Comcast.

Cisco is not saying anything at the moment but is booked to do a press conference later today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas.

At the press conference it will be showing how it will help service and content providers offer a combination of paid television, Internet video services and on-demand video.
