Broadband subscription growth to slow, says In-Stat2011.01.11 09:58 by Daniela
The global number of broadband subscribers is expected to continue growing at a steady rate over the coming years.
Research from market intelligence firm In-Stat revealed there were 763 million broadband subscribers throughout the world at the end of 2010.
The volume of broadband customers rose 25 per cent between 2007 and 2009, the organisation found, although it predicted this rapid increase is set to slow in the future.
Industry analyst Vahid Dejwakh explained this figure is expected to drop to ten per cent by 2014 as the market becomes increasingly saturated, although he insisted there are still some "substantial gains to be made".
"The Asia-Pacific region will continue to see very high growth rates, along with Latin America and the Middle East/Africa regions," Mr Dejwakh explained.
