Apple has not made any official announcements yet, but according to Evan Blass, the release date of the next generation iPhone will be September 12. It is expected to go on sale on Friday, September 16. So far, the tech giant has traditionally introduced new products in mid-September followed by store sales.

The new handset is expected to be called iPhone 7, but there are also speculations that it may be called iPhone 6SE. The company will probably reveal two phones: a standard iPhone 7 using the iPhone 6's 4.7ins display and a larger Plus model with a 5.5ins phablet-style screen.

The new models will likely be thinner than their predecessors. They will get new antenna bands, as well as larger and more powerful cameras, with a dual-lens system on the Plus model.
