Hacker group AntiSec, which is related to Anonymous, has released source code to Symantec's Norton Antivirus 2006 software in apparent tribute to the arrests of several of their prominent members this week. A 1.07GB file that is apparently the source code was published on Pastebin on Thursday.

The release of the code was not unexpected. Last month, hackers affiliated with Anonymous had released source code to Symantec's pcAnywhere after a botched sting operation. That time too, the hackers published the code on The Pirate Bay website.

"All conflict comes from social inequality and those who use this to their advantage. Our civilization is facing a radical, imminent mass change. The alternative to the hierarchical power structure is based on mutual aid and group consensus," says the introduction to the leak at The Pirate Bay.

"Symantec can confirm that a segment of its source code has been accessed. Upon investigation of the claims made by Anonymous regarding source code disclosure, Symantec believes that the disclosure was the result of a theft of source code that occurred in 2006," the company said.
