i use windows xp.. my modem is arescom netDSL 1000 series..

OK first you need to set your MTU properly, I assume this is a PPPoE DSL connection, are you using your ISPs software or XPs native setup?

nope.. no pppoe
.. static ip.. when my computer turns on.. i'm connected to internet.

OK then your MTU should be 1500, see if the fixes in my Help & Tips link help.

What do you mean? First your MTU needs to be right before anything else.

Those were my results after changing MTU.
Advertised speeds were 512/256

That's why I asked you to try the suggestions in my Help & Tips link.

hm.. dude.. i can't seem to change MTU:s still by reading ur help..

Try manually setting it in your registry in the following location:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\<interface>

DWORD value of 5dc (which will make it 1500).

MTU=1500

the setting was placed liek that from before

OK looking back through some older threads I found this one, did you change your connection? If so who is your ISP now?

i use the same isp.. just htat i changed from dynamic ip to static
same plan and everything..
my isp is a chilean one.. called GTD..
i live in south america.

are there different settings for static and dynamic ip.. even if the plans are different?

OK from reading your other thread I think you left out some important information..... are you using a router? You said you have a server, is this pc running through another one to access the internet?

so.. directly connected to net.

OK but are you using ICS to share the connection with other pcs? If so I think that's what is messing up your MTU, you need to set your ICS MTU to 1480.... I believe it should be 1480 even though you have a static IP.
