Currently i have Rogers (caps 1500/190) and i'm getting tired of the slow upload now adays, and i'm paying $45 for it. Found this isp

for $49 3500/800 is this worth it???

Does anyone have this connection and doesnt mind sharing some info!

I have rogers aswell, it isnt 1500/190 it's 1500/384
but not really much difference my upload is about 20kb/s
as for that deal... you gotta be careful with it cuz if u go on the same website and check for a company called AEI, I tried using that but I was out of range, when I tired to refund everything... I got a lot of hastle cuz it's a small company and they dont have any service at all so to call them for support you have to wait atleast a day before they reply, I gotta admit Roger's speeds are pretty horrible considering the fact of paying $50/month for their service... but the good thing about it is... whenever you call, you ALWAYS get service ... with some other companies... their advertised speed may be great but they have absolutly no service. So it's up to you I suggest if you aint too pissed at rogers, stay with it cuz atleast if you complain a lot they'll charge you less per month

let just say i use mIRC...and 20kb/sec isnt gonna really help me.
100kb/sec will help, well anyways i'm gonna be very careful with this, i've e-mailed them a long letter regarding their "3500/800" connection, with tons of questions. I might phone them tomorrow, cause i've had enough with Rogers and Sympatico..u never know i might just get 56k Not!!

dude yes its worth it. get it.

The service you are asking about is DSL. Its perfomance will depend upon the distance from the phone companie's central office. I'd suggest that you hold their fingers to the fire on performance - there will almost certanly be a contract with a minimum time of as long as a year.

i'll just stick to my connection that i have right now cause most likely the pings are gonna be to high. I sent them an e-mail about 1/2 ago and they havent replied back to it. So it seems that either they dont have any tech/sales reps or they are to busy/or a bad company. Thanks anyways for your help. Still waiting for that guy to reply back to the shaw question. Is Shaw available in Mississauga, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. HEHe bit long eh.

Hi guys!

I live in Sweden and I've always used DSL-service here. A few weeks ago I found an ISP offering 1mbit/200kbit (down/up). I gave it a try because it was cheap (roughly 35USD) and I only had 512kbit with DSL (but both ways).
But talk about a rip-off! What's the use with a connection that doesn't handle duplex traffic?!?! I checked my firewall while downloading at 115K/s and after a few min. I started an upload and guess what - the speed downstream dropped to 7-8K/s! So no matter if U get 10mbit cable U still won't be able to upload at the same as U download. I know this problem is noticeable when using DSL also, but only a few % according to my firewall.
So U guys who want a broadband connection for something else than just checking mail and surf the web (like peer2peer software: kazaa, directconnect, etc); get DSL...

What you experienced is built into the TCP/IP protocol by intention. It has nothing to do with the fact that your connection is via cable. It has to do with the acknowledgement process. Your TCP/IP stack (and everybody else's) does not prioritize acknowledgements, so your download get slowed down because it is waiting for acknowledgement packets.

Ok, so the reason for this is the ack. in TCP/IP protokoll. Any work-around' for this problem? Asking because the problem seemes to be 10 times worse for my cable modem compared to the DSL-modem. Any ideas?

its 3mb/800kb so ...im now using telus adsl and my maximum download is 160kb/s and same upload ...and its 1.5mb/s.
is it gonna be big difference ?i Wish i could hit at least 600kb upload but i guess it will be not possible with that 3mb line

and i have to pay 100 bucks for 2048/256..
worth changing??
the company's technical service is usally available.. and installation is free atleast..

thats not bad for a third world country.. I'm getting raped by SBC.. 50 bucks for a dynamic adsl 768/160..
of course the technical support is always available.. but I don't really need them unless I forget a password...

damn i pay a bit more than that for 1500/128 with attbi or 1500/256, whatever it is.
