The higher end ones are, depending on your chipset. On paper, vs real world performance on the motherboard/chipset, and which RDRAM you choose, are two very different things.

But man the price can kill the average Joe!

I guess when you put Price in as a factor, then DDR is the better solution price vs. performance

But I was going on the basis of not having Price as a factor, from a purely technological standpoint, RDRAM is superior

32bit RIMM 4200 is just awesome, and when you oc the bus higher the bandwidth is increadible, which does translate into real world advantages in performance...

Yah the 4200 RIMM simply dominated far and beyond, looking at those charts at GamePC. Earilier RIMMs are closer to toe to toe with DDR. But the 4200...heh...throughput beyond Niagra Falls!

But even for those of us lucky enough to get hardware for cheap/free....man you pay for this stuff, considering the RAM itself, plus the mobo, and, oh, might as well go full blown workstation/server class if you're going to go ///this/// far....and get a XEON system to fully and properly utilize it!

interesting

but when you add price.... dont forget you also gotta buy RDRAM in pairs making it even more expensive.

Checking newegg prices.... your gonna spend somewhere in the range of 150 for two 128 sticks total 256

but in DDR

94 for a 256 stick......

both kingston.....

FYI, I get 256MB (2x128) Samsung 800 RDRAM for $99 at a local shop.

Hard to believe opinions on RDRAM have changed as much as they have.
