Usually you just buy all the parts you want and assemble the computer yourself or hire somebody to do it for you. Try Fry's Electronics in WislonVille Oregon, complete computers and parts are cheap there.

Buy a custom PC from who ever you want. Here's what I built for a friend a month ago. Not the best, definitely not the worst:

That was all without a monitor, but that's even more subjective than the previous listing is. Try and get all that with a Dell [EDIT] or any other custom builder [/EDIT] for the same cost.

I've seen an aweful lot of custom built computers, and what I want to caution you on...is your metioning "cheap".....don't go for the cheapest one out there.....you'll be sorry.

While I'm all for building your own computer....it's just not right for some people, so I want to encourage others who will reply not to flame someone for not building their own. Some people just want to buy a high performance gaming rig that will work without headaches, and have good support behind it when it breaks.....

So I want to encourage you to shop wisely. There are many companies out there who built, by hand, very well made, high performance gaming computers. But what's also important, is you find that place that has great support behind their product...who can help you if any problems occur (and lets face it, with computers, they will occur). Buying from some fly by night place on the 'net with great prices, something goes wrong, you try to get support..and either their out of business, or the support is a nighmare....so stick with known good reputable places. Ive been in the computer hardware field for many years, and can, based on experience, recommend the following:

tigerdirect kinda sux......they don't care about their customers at all, only about selling you parts, and that is not right in my opinion

falcon northwest and alienware are total ripoffs..dont even think about it...i could build a system that would wipe the falcon and alienwares off this planet for half the price they charge.

Yea, don't buy from some major company. Pay somebody here at sg.net to build one for you for $100. It really isn't hard... not sayin i'll do it, I'm sure somebody here will though. Those companys charge like $500 (atleast) over the actual price.
