Any recent changes to the BIos?

Could be a RAM problem. What kind of RAM do you have? If its cheap and generic, I wouldn't be suprised if that's your problem.

Also, check your power supply. How many watts does it supply. Power supplies can be sources of all kinds of mysterious problems. You should have no less than 250W and 300W would be better.

It's your ATI.....I was having the same problem with my ATI rage fury, that's why i switched to a Creative Banschee (i know i know it's crap) and runs way better than the ATI! ;)

Not enough info...

How did you reformat? Latest motherboard drivers first...then update each of your other devices with the latest drivers?

Which OS?

Overclocking at all? If so, kick it back to default for a while.

Anti-virus that is up to date?

np. Well of course meanwhile u can try other ways that other ppl has mentioned. Well maybe u can just borrow a card off your friend, not nessessary need to buy one because it's only a assumption that it's the video card's problem :)

msconfig some of that stuff out of start up... It is taxin' all of your resources... ;) Let us know if you need details on this...

Consider adding a stick of RAM to handle what you are wanting do...

Reboot often
Also, make sure that any prog you open, finishes opening all of the way before you close it...

I had a similar problem. i had a 16mb version and everytime i try to run a game it would exit the game onto the desktop. or it would lock up and the screen will become blank. It kept getting worse too, everytime i booted to the desktop it would black out.

These sites will help you understand what each listing is and if you need it to run from start up:

http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/index.htm

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.htm

http://www.forrestandassociates.co.uk/p ... rtups.html

Those are good info pages. Read them to get a bit of background understanding, then go through your items and match it to their lists... I let only a bare minimum run in start up on my 98 box... If I want something to run, then I will open it... ;)
