Best browser for broadband?

Basically I just wanted to know which one takes the most advantage of high-speed settings without sacrificing quality or stability. Right now I use IE6 and Mozilla 1. While IE is the standard right now, I still can't stand the crashes and freezing I get while doing intensive surfing. Mozilla is very stable and seems to be speedier than IE, but doesn't fully support Flash/Shockwave for me and sometimes the pages load incorrectly. I've used Navigator, Opera, and others as well, but don't know if any of those are superior to other browsers. Anyone have any advice, suggestions, etc? Any help is appreciated.

Lets see what is the popularity of Web Browsers.
And you can choose which one you like the most..
I use Opera, and Mozilla, and IE 5.5 SP2
and I have not found which one I like the best.. but one things for sure IE 6 is flooded with options that you don't need
and Opera packs a bunch of Links in your Favorites, and Mozilla requires many plugins to view pages correctly.
I think you'll find one that suites you if you click the link above.

Oh my god people are actually still recommending IE. Build and code websites and you won't recommend IE for long. It doesn't even read and display standard html properly.

Opera seems to be the best. But I only use IE, Netscape, and Opera (all newest builds) for testing.

Latest builds of IE are about as good as alpha ware, try IE 5.01 SP2 and don't use anything later if you want good results with HTML pages..

It has nothing to do with problems using it. If you coded websites or actually websites with any technical advancements they actually physically look different then if you where using another browser. IE actually reads a form tag and inputs a space where the tag is, though tags aren't meant to be seen in a browser.

I agree Bob.

From the programming world.. Micro$oft is a nightmare bug filled universe.

Most people don't have the opportunity to use stuff that actually works. Such is a monoploy. :(

I use Opera

Galeon or Opera for the Linux blend.

IE3.0 isn't supported in MSN Hotmail territory.
I'm so confused..

I think you missunderstood me. I meant for you to try IE 5.01 for testing your HTML pages in. Anything later involves new standards that MS sets.

Netscape was always a problem for me when I was writing pages, becasue MS set new standards, and Netscape didn't keep up. Frames were a nightmare.

I agree with you, Opera is a good brower, but it's not free.

Which ever browser version your Windows updates or calls for is the best for you since you are running an MS O/S.

Like it or not, the person with the biggest wallet usually throws the party and gets to be the bouncer too.

Not true, IE updates are not always compatible with certain OS's, even though MS has them in the list of updates for your OS.

MS admits that IE 6 is incompatible with Win98, but it is still in the list at MS update when updating Win98.

Norm,
I was just testing IE3.0 on a different PC, and MSN states Browser Not Supported.
I guess IE3.0 is too old..
I do use Opera on My Main Rig, as well as IE 5.5 SP2, and also Mozilla.
The updates not all of them on M$ Software Updates is not compatible with all of the hardware on our computers.
Try getting a Lynksys Nic Card Update while using dslPPPoE and your computer redlines (mine does). And the DirectX 8.1 won't uninstall.. thats the kind of footprint that just don't go away (there might be a way to do it but M$ won't give you directions).
But not to get off topic
I've used Explorer 2002 its not loaded with too many options that you don't need. Its limited but its easy to use. You can custom install.
Give it a try if you don't like it just uninstall it. Explorer 2002
